The Case of Living Your Dream Life

There’s a quote that I never took to heart until now and it didn’t sit well with me.

The first being ‘If you don’t build your dream someone else will hire you to help build theirs.’

and a second one is from a tweet ‘A salary is a drug they give you to distract from your dreams’.

The problem with those two quotes is that they assume everyone wants to be an entrepreneur and two people under big organizations share the same dream.

For me, my dream is building a South African EV but also moving humans from our reliance on fossil fuels.

With that, even though I’m the founder when we hire we look for people who share the same dream and goals.

And with the groups’ mission-aligned we are able to build on our dream, you get people who join in in engineering, marketing, financing, administration, etc…

All different roles and departments but one mission.

These guys are there to just help one person reach their dream but it’s a collective effort.

Not all businesses will be mission-driven but those that are, are usually built by a collective team who share the same dream.

Tesla is just Elon Musk’s dream, he’s not even a founder but an early investor of a company that we saw shared the same dream as his.

When Lewis Hamilton wins the World Championship, it’s his own effort but also of hundreds if not thousands of team members who share that price with him.

You can be an employee and still be able to be living your dream, there’s a reason we have the phrase dream job right?
