So today I saw a couple of guys sitting behind a bakkie and behind them was scrap metal that they had collected.
In the back, there was an old washing machine and I thought of our old washing machine and how it was mostly metal and the latest one is mostly plastic.
From that, I wondered if we are really in a world where anything that can be plastic, will be plastic.
And as my mind always works I quickly turned to vehicles.
Can and should more components be made of plastic and its many forms?
Metal is great and makes sense but I wonder if apart from the safety features and structural rigidity, we need metal.
Do delivery vans need to be metal, the driver’s cockpit yes but everything else? And not stop there, fenders and the other parts.
Will we see more car components get made from plastic or I don’t understand the fundaments of car manufacturing and design?
